Behavioral Analytics Platform

An enterprise analytics platform built to make behavioral insights accessible to any team, at any technical level. Adopted across 65-plus products in year one.

Role
Lead Product Owner and UX Designer
Company
Target Corporation

OutcomeAdopted across more than 65 internal products in the first year, with implementation complexity cut by roughly 90 percent and time to value under five minutes.

Most analytics platforms inside large organizations are built for analysts. They require specialized expertise to integrate, specialized knowledge to interpret, and a significant time investment before any value is visible. The result is that insights remain concentrated in a small group of technical users while the teams closest to the product, the people most capable of acting on behavioral data, are left making decisions based on assumptions.

The platform was built to invert that dynamic. The platform was designed as a shared decision-making tool usable by partners in any role, with the explicit goal of reducing implementation complexity, onboarding time, and maintenance overhead to the point where any team could integrate, start collecting meaningful data, and begin seeing insights within minutes rather than weeks.

The product approach was data-first with experience layered on top. The system captured meaningful events and tasks while preserving the context needed to interpret them, not just what happened, but how and why behaviors emerged over time. The interface was intentionally simple. Teams could browse behavior patterns, examine task outcomes, and build confidence in their conclusions without needing to understand analytics infrastructure or terminology. The goal was not dashboards. It was learning and confidence as outcomes.

Reframing analytics as a shared capability rather than a specialized function required solving a real product challenge: making the barrier to entry low enough that the effort of adoption felt immediately worthwhile. Implementation complexity was reduced by roughly 90 percent compared to existing alternatives. Time to value for new adopters dropped to under five minutes. These were not incidental outcomes. They were the design targets, because adoption at scale is only possible when the value is visible before the cost is felt.

Within the first year, the platform was adopted across more than 65 internal products. Teams that had previously relied on assumptions began making decisions grounded in observable behavior. Conversations that had been opinion-driven became evidence-driven. The platform became foundational infrastructure not because it was mandated, but because it made a meaningful difference to how teams understood and iterated on their products.
